James A. Sloand, MD, FASN
Dr. James Sloand currently serves as the Senior Medical Director and Global Therapeutic Lead for Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) at Baxter Healthcare Corporation. In this capacity, he evaluates innovative technologies, participates in the development and approval of new products, and provides global clinical support to sustain existing therapies. He also drives international education and research initiatives to improve patient outcomes on PD.
Prior to his 9 years of work at Baxter, Dr. Sloand was a tenured faculty member at the University of Rochester for 24 years with clinical, academic and research responsibilities as Professor of Medicine, Director of Home Dialysis, and volunteer medical lead for the National Kidney Foundation of Upstate New York. Dr. Sloand received his M.D. degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine and is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology. He has consistently educated, advocated and practiced his profession to improve the choices, medical care and quality of life for individuals with kidney disease.
