Basic/Clinical Science Session

In Vivo Pathology: Functional Imaging of the Kidney

November 20, 2016 | 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Location: W183A

Session Description

New insight into the pathophysiology of kidney diseases is promised by recent developments in imaging technology that allow fibrosis, hemodynamic changes, urine flows, and inflammation to be visualized within tissues, even in the relatively unperturbed setting of intact organs in vivo. This session addresses these topics.

Session Objectives

Upon completion of this session, the participant will be able to: 1. describe the potential of functional imaging of kidneys for clinical management and clinical trials; 2. discuss the strategies of functional imaging; and 3. explain the correlations between pathology and in vivo imaging.

Session Acknowledgements

In celebration of its 50th anniversary, ASN thanks former ASN Councilor C. Craig Tisher, MD.
