Session Description

Given the data suggesting that AKI has many long-term consequences, enhancing renal recovery may be an important strategy to improve patient outcomes. This session focuses on what is known about renal recovery and the long-term consequences of AKI.

Session Objectives

Upon completion of this session, the participant will be able to: 1. describe what is known about the epidemiology of renal recovery; 2. describe the impact of AKI on CVD and BP control; 3. define the role of AKI in bone mineral metabolism in patients with and without CKD; and 4. summarize long-term functional outcomes of AKI and rehospitalization after AKI.
