Open for Business: New Insights to Hemodialysis Vascular Access

November 19, 2016 | 02:00 PM - 04:00 PM

Location: W184

Session Description

The approach to choice of vascular access in different clinical settings remains uncertain. Moreover, risk factors and biological factors leading to vascular access primary failure, dysfunction, and abandonment are uncertain. There are active clinical trials addressing these problems that offer new treatment alternatives. This session reviews these new insights in vascular access.

Session Objectives

Upon completion of this session, the participant will be able to: 1. describe new data examining risk factors for fistula maturation and failure; 2. identify novel treatment strategies in vascular access; and 3. evaluate factors influencing choice of access in individualized patients.

Learning Pathways

  • Dialysis
  • Chronic Kidney Disease

Moderators

  • Michael Allon, MD
