SPRINTing to New BP Treatment Goals

November 17, 2016 | 02:00 PM - 04:00 PM

Location: W375A

Session Description

The recently published Systolic Blood Pressure Intervention Trial (SPRINT) has renewed the exigency for tight BP control to ameliorate CVD in hypertension patients. Additional results from this study are now emerging to describe how targeting a lower BP influences the risk for CKD and AKI. This session addresses these topics.

Session Objectives

Upon completion of this session, the participant will be able to: 1. summarize the important findings from the SPRINT clinical trial; 2. discuss the application of the SPRINT to CKD patients; and 3. describe the risk for AKI related to tight BP control in hypertension.
