REGISTRATION

How much does registration cost?
Late registration (after September 17) prices are as follows:

  • ASN Member - $325
  • ASN Fellow/Associate Member - $175
  • Nonmember - $475
  • Nonmember Resident/Student/Trainee/Technician - $325

When should I arrive during Renal Week?
One- and Two-Day Programs take place on Tuesday, November 4, and Wednesday, November 5. The ASN Annual Meeting begins on Thursday, November 6, and concludes on Sunday, November 9.

Does my registration for a One- and Two-Day Program include my registration for the rest of the week?
No. The One- and Two-Day Programs and the Annual Meeting have separate registration fees.

Where is the registration area?
Registration will be located in the Grand Hall of the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Registration will be open during the following times:

Tuesday, November 4, 7:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
Wednesday, November 5, 7:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m.
Thursday, November 6, 7:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m.
Friday, November 7, 7:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
Saturday, November 8, 7:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.

I preregistered and received my meeting badge in the mail. Do I still need to go to registration?
No. But, you still need to pick-up your meeting bag from the Materials Pickup counter, located across from registration in the Grand Hall of the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

My membership has expired. Can I pay my membership dues onsite then register at the member rate?
No. Membership dues needed to be received and processed by Friday, September 5, in order to register for Renal Week at the member rate. If your membership is not current, you must register at the non-member rate.

A family member wants to accompany me to a session. Can she/he attend without registration?
No. All participants must pay full registration and wear a meeting badge. Participants who do not wear a meeting badge will not be admitted entrance to Renal Week sessions or the Exhibit Hall. Children under 12 years of age are not permitted in any ASN meeting or session rooms or in the Exhibit/Poster Hall at any time.

MEETING MATERIAL

Where do I pick up my meeting bag?
The Materials Pickup counter will be located across from the registration area in the Grand Hall of the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

Is there a daily schedule that I can reference?
New this year, a convenient Day-at-a-Glance Pocket Guide will be added as a companion to the ASN Onsite Book. Both will be available in your meeting bag.

EXHIBIT/POSTER HALL and ABSTRACTS

When does the exhibit/poster hall open?
The Exhibit/Poster Hall is located in Halls A&B of the Pennsylvania Convention Center. The hall will be open during the following times:

Thursday, November 6, 9:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
Friday, November 7, 9:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
Saturday, November 8, 9:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.

Where is the poster hall?
Posters will be located on both ends of the Exhibit Hall, located in Halls A and B of the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

When do I set up my poster?
Marathon Multimedia sent all poster presenters an email providing them the date and time of their poster presentation. This email also included setup times. If you did not receive your email, please contact support@marathonmultimedia.com.

The check-in desks for poster presenters will be located outside of Halls A and B of the convention center.

My poster was created by Marathon Multimedia and sent to Renal Week. Where do I pick it up?
You can retrieve your poster at Marathon Multimedia’s Call4Posters desk, located in the Hall A foyer of the convention center.

Where can I view the abstracts online?
The abstracts are now posted online at the Abstracts2ViewTM site and include all invited sessions and abstracts for Renal Week 2008. Participants can search for programs and abstracts by sessions, authors, titles, keywords, or categories; mark the sessions/posters they wish to attend; and print their choices as a customized itinerary. Participants can also download their itinerary on a personal digital assistant (PDA) or handheld computer.

Where do I pick up my free Renal Week 2008 Abstracts CD?
All abstracts that are submitted to Renal Week 2008 are recorded on compact disk (CD). Participants will receive a CD voucher in their meeting bag. This voucher can be redeemed at the Genzyme exhibit booth (#707), while supplies last.

PROGRAM and SESSION INFORMATION

Where are the One- and Two-Day Programs located?
All One- and Two-Day Programs will take place in the Philadelphia Convention Center. Room lists will be available at the ASN Information Booth, in your Onsite Book, in your Day-at-a-Glance Pocket Guide, and at each program check-in desk.

Where do the Plenary (State of the Art/Award) Sessions take place?
The Thursday, Friday, and Saturday morning plenary sessions will take place in Hall C of the Pennsylvania Convention Center from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., and the Sunday morning plenary session will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

How do I sign up to use the Microscope Room?
Please sign up (outside Room 305 of the convention center) prior to the Saturday, November 8, Clinical Nephrology Conference (CNC), Renal Biopsy: Clinical Correlations, for a hands-on review session that will prepare you for Saturday’s case discussions.

Will the sessions be audio/video taped? Will they be available for purchase?
All Plenary Sessions, Basic and Clinical Science Symposia, and Clinical Nephrology Conferences will be audio recorded, provided that all speakers grant permission. Additionally, selected One- and Two-Day Programs will be audio recorded. State-of-the-Art lectures will be video recorded. To order a Renal Week recording, please visit the audio/video recording sales desk located on the Bridge of the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

How do I attend meal symposia?
Breakfast, Luncheon, and Dinner Symposia attendance is on a first-come, first-served basis. These symposia will be held at the Philadelphia Marriott and the Loews Philadelphia Hotel. For further details, see the guide to Breakfast, Luncheon, and Dinner Symposia located in your meeting bag.

CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION (CME) CREDITS/ATTENDANCE CERTIFICATES

How do I obtain CME credits for Renal Week?
To obtain CME credits for attendance at Renal Week, participants must complete the online evaluation and attest attendance for each session. The evaluation must be completed by Wednesday, December 31, 2008.

Members of the ASN staff are available to answer CME questions at the CME booth, which is located in the ASN Service Center on the Bridge of the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

I am an International participant and need a certificate of attendance. How do I get one?
Certificates of Attendance will be available at the CME booth, which is located in the ASN Service Center on the Bridge of the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

GENERAL MEETING INFORMATION

How do I get from the airport to my hotel?
A one-way taxi ride from the airport to Central Philadelphia costs approximately $30 per person. The SEPTA (regional rail) R-1 line runs twice per hour from the airport to Center City Philadelphia. The Market East Station is approximately two blocks south of the convention center.

Lady Liberty Transportation (airport shuttle service) is available to transport all attendees from the airport to Philadelphia hotels and the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Shuttle service to all downtown hotels and the convention center is currently $10.00 each way. Shuttles depart every 30 minutes. To ride the shuttle, proceed to the Ground Transportation counter in the baggage claim area and take a ticket from the dispenser on the counter. After you have claimed your luggage, dial "27" from the courtesy phones at the Ground Transportation counter and inform the dispatcher of your destination. Your ticket number will be called when the appropriate van arrives. To return to the airport, call (215)724-8888 or stop by the guest service desk to make a reservation.

Who do I contact if I have problems with my hotel reservation?
Please visit the housing desk, located in the Grand Hall, near the registration area, in the convention center. The housing desk will be open Tuesday, November 4, to Saturday, November 8.

How do I get back and forth to the convention center from my hotel?
Complimentary shuttle service will be available Tuesday, November 4, to Sunday, November 9, between the Pennsylvania Convention Center and all participating hotels except those within immediate walking distance of the convention center (Courtyard Marriott, Four Points Sheraton, Hampton Inn City Center, Hilton Garden Inn, Loews Philadelphia Hotel, and the Philadelphia Marriott). A shuttle schedule will be posted at each hotel and in the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

I am attending Renal Week as part of the ASN Invited Residents Program. How do I get my travel grant?
There are two possibilities, based on what your nephrology fellowship training program director (TPD) specified on your nomination form. If your TPD requested that the grant be sent directly to your institution, the grant will be mailed after Renal Week. However, if your TPD indicated that the grant should be made out to you, the grant can be picked up at the Invited Residents counter in the registration area of the Pennsylvania Convention Center. If you are not sure which scenario applies to you, please contact ASN Senior Policy Coordinator Susan Owens at (202) 416-0668 or sowens@asn-online.org.

What are my meal options?
Concession stands are located throughout the Pennsylvania Convention Center as well as in the exhibit/poster hall, and a number of restaurants surround the convention center area. For dinner options, a list of notable restaurants is included in the ASN Onsite Highlights, which is a magazine included in your meeting bag.

Where can I check my coat/baggage?
A baggage and coat check will be available Tuesday, November 4, to Sunday, November 9, in the 100 Lobby Level of the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

Where is the Lost and Found?
Lost and found items will be turned into the Pennsylvania Convention Center’s Security Department. If you have lost or found an item, please use one of the many white house phones located throughout the lobby areas of the convention center to contact security directly by dialing extension 2118. Sercurity personnel will provide you with further instructions.

How do I access the Internet?
The ASN Cyber Center is located on the Bridge of the Pennsylvania Convention Center. All attendees can access the internet from this computer bank.

Wireless internet access is available in the public areas of the convention center for a fee of $10/day. Attendee laptops with wireless cards will automatically locate the wireless signal, and the website for entering credit card information to obtain access to the internet will automatically load.

Are there arrangements for Child Care?
ASN has obtained the name of child-care providers used by several hotels in Philadelphia to provide in-room child-care services. ASN makes no endorsement of these providers and accepts no liability should you employ their services. For further information and rates, contact Your Other Hand at (215) 790-0990.

Children under 12 years of age are not permitted in any ASN meeting or session rooms or in the Exhibit Hall at any time.

Where is the ASN management office?
The ASN Management Office is located in room 304 of the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

Where is the ASN Speaker Ready Room?
The Speaker Ready Room is located on the Third Floor Overlook of the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

Where is the ASN Press Room?
The ASN Press Room, available to journalists reporting from Renal Week 2008 is located in Room 303B of the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
