grants and funding

Basic Science Travel Grant Program

The ASN has established a travel grant program to help offset the cost for ASN member researchers or ASN-sponsored post-doctoral research fellows to attend small, focused scientific meetings that are related to the applicant's area of research. Funds will be awarded based on need and the likelihood of the meeting advancing the research program of the ASN member or sponsored post-doctoral research fellow. No more than five travel awards will be funded for any single meeting.

Purpose

The intent of the award is to facilitate attendance of ASN members and ASN-sponsored post-doctoral research fellows at small focused scientific meetings.

Eligibility

Travel support to attend the main/annual meeting of major renal or related societies of any country is excluded (e. g. ASN, ISN, NKF, AST, RPA, PKRF, ASPN, ISPN, etc.) Applications for support to attend a satellite meeting of the main/annual meeting of a renal or related society are eligible for support ONLY if the applicant is not receiving travel support or an honorarium to attend the associated main meeting.

Next Deadlines

October 3, 2008 and March 6, 2009. Only applications submitted online will be accepted.

Timing of the Application

Applications will not be reviewed or funded if received after the meeting has occurred. You can not apply for reimbursement to a meeting that you attended prior to submission of the application.

Funding Priority

Funding priority will be given to junior faculty and senior post-doctoral fellows. Recipients must meet eligibility criteria.
