ASN Seeks Editor-in Chief for New Publication
Wednesday, April 9, 2008
The American Society of Nephrology (ASN) is creating a new publication aimed at summarizing issues relevant to the nephrology community in a concise and accessible format. Scheduled to debut in January 2009, this newsmagazine will include articles that touch on a number of areas, including new clinical developments, epidemiologic findings, federal and state policy updates, insights about practice management, industry trends, and opinions from leading nephrologists and other policymakers.
In addition to providing ASN members with news about nephrology, this publication will expand the Society’s reach through circulation to allied health professionals and administrative staff who work in the field of nephrology. The newsmagazine will join the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology (JASN), Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology (CJASN), and Nephrology Self-Assessment Program (NephSAP) in ASN’s suite of publications.
ASN is seeking applications, nominations, and recommendations for the position of Editor-in-Chief of the ASN newsmagazine. The founding Editor-in-Chief will serve a three-year term, beginning July 1, 2008. Working with a professional Managing Editor, the Editor-in-Chief is responsible for creating the vision, guaranteeing the quality of the content, and overseeing the design of the publication.
The ideal candidate for this position will have broad experience in the field of nephrology and understand the editorial process. Familiarity with clinical practice issues, research, education (particularly post-graduate education), or health policy is also desirable.
For more information about the position or to recommend potential candidates, please contact Thomas M. Coffman, MD, FASN, who is chairing the ASN Editor-in-Chief Search Committee, at (919) 684-9788 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
To apply for the position, please email your letter of interest and curriculum vitae to ASN Executive Director Tod Ibrahim at email@example.com by Friday, May 2, 2008, at 4:00 p.m. EDT. Please note that the Society can only accept online applications.
