CMS Finalizes Changes to ESRD and QIP Programs
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released its finalized changes to the End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) Prospective Payment System and the ESRD Quality Improvement Program (QIP) on Tuesday, November 1, 2011. The ASN Public Policy Board and ASN staff are analyzing the final rule and will soon provide ASN members with an overview of the final rule and its implications for patients and nephrology care professionals.

Given the unprecedented importance of this CMS regulation, and the likelihood that it will have monumental effect on care of patients with renal disease and on the practice of nephrology nationwide, the Society created an ESRD Task Force to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the Proposed Rule and craft a comment letter to CMS.

ASN Presents Remarks at CMS ESRD Town Hall Meeting
On October 23, 2009, CMS convened a Town Hall meeting on the Proposed ESRD Bundling Rule at its headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland. Over 300 applicants requested the opportunity to comment at the Town Hall, and ASN was one of the select few to earn a spot.
