Peter B. DeOreo, MD

January 1, 1946 - July 18, 2016

Peter Butler DeOreo, M.D., F.A.C.P., 70 years old, passed away surrounded by his family on July 18, 2016 following a quiet, courageous struggle with cancer.

A lifelong resident of Shaker Heights, Peter graduated from Gilmour Academy, Williams College (Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa) and Case Western Reserve University Medical School (Alpha Omega Alpha).

A nationally recognized nephrologist, Peter was the Chief of Medical Affairs and Quality Assurance for the Centers for Dialysis Care, and was affiliated with University Hospitals of Cleveland and Case Western Reserve School of Medicine throughout his 37-year career in Cleveland. Peter was a true scientist and a master statistician whose work greatly improved the care of his patients. In his free time, Peter enjoyed spending time with his family and playing golf. He was also a long-suffering Cleveland sports fan who never lost his faith that "this year was the year" for the Tribe.

Peter was the beloved husband of Linda H. DeOreo (nee Huettner); loving father of Elizabeth H. DeOreo M.D. of Shaker Hts., Stephen B. DeOreo of Truckee, CA; dear grandfather of Peter H. "Henry" DeOreo; dear brother of Gerard A. DeOreo, Jr., M.D. (Joellen), Mary B. DeOreo (Marc Lackritz) and William B. DeOreo (Paula).
