2017 Onco-Nephrology Symposium

December 1 - December 1, 2017

Location: New York, NY

Cancer patients present the nephrologist with more complex fluid and electrolyte disturbances than those typically encountered, and the introduction of novel anti-cancer drugs with fairly unique toxicities has created the need for specialized education in the field of onco-nephrology. This seminar will enable participants to advance and refine their understanding of unique issues relating to the evaluation and management of patients with cancer with acquired and chronic kidney disease. Didactic lectures will focus on electrolyte derangements in cancer patients, targeted therapies and their nephrotoxic effects, recognition and management of monoclonal gammopathy of renal significance, acute and chronic kidney disease in the bone marrow transplant patient, anemia management in cancer patients, and care of the renal transplant patient with cancer. Participants will learn about common urinary diversion procedures in these patients and their related complications. Additionally attendees will participate in clinicopathologic case presentations. This course is directly sponsored by Memorial Sloan Kettering and in collaboration with MD Anderson Cancer Center.
