Growth Factors in Kidney Diseases: Wnts and Friends

November 17, 2016 | 02:00 PM - 04:00 PM

Location: W187

Session Description

The Wnt/α-catenin signaling pathway plays a critical role in nephronogenesis but is reactivated during acute or chronic kidney injury and repair. In recent years, several growth factors have been found to interact with canonical or noncanonical Wnt cascades during the pathogenesis of several forms of kidney damage. This session addresses these topics.

Session Objectives

Upon completion of this session, the participant will be able to: 1. discuss the role of the Wnt cascade in acute and chronic kidney diseases; and 2. discuss growth factors that interact with Wnt signaling in the pathogenesis of kidney damage.

Session Acknowledgements

In celebration of its 50th anniversary, ASN thanks former ASN Councilor Robert Jay Alpern, MD.
