Session Description

This session discusses a complex patient with a kidney transplant. The transplant nephrologist is challenged to develop a clinical differential diagnosis based on the history presented by the pathologist. The allograft renal biopsy findings are presented by the pathologist, followed by concluding remarks and discussion by the transplant nephrologist.

Session Objectives

Upon completion of this session, the participant will be able to: 1. develop a clinical differential diagnosis based on renal biopsy findings; 2. recognize the salient features of renal allograft rejection and de novo disease; and 3. explain the unique features of superimposed infectious processes in the allograft.
