Seeing through the Haze: New Advances in Drug-Induced AKI

November 18, 2016 | 04:30 PM - 06:30 PM

Location: S105

Session Description

This session consists of a description of the magnitude of the problem of drug-induced AKI, newer findings on the mechanisms of drug-induced AKI, and newer diagnostic initiatives. A description of new initiatives geared to minimize the magnitude of the problem and its consequences is also presented.

Session Objectives

Upon completion of this session, the participant will be able to: 1. describe recent advances in the definition of drug-induced AKI; 2. summarize the main mechanisms leading to drug-induced AKI; 3. analyze the design of studies to establish genetic associations of drug-induced AKI; and 4. summarize initiatives designed to monitor and reduce the incidence of drug-induced AKI.

Session Acknowledgements

In celebration of its 50th anniversary, ASN thanks former ASN Councilor Saulo Klahr, MD.
