Session Description

This session describes the clinical presentation, pathology, and pathophysiology of 1. bacterial infection–related glomerular disease in children and adults; 2. infection–related thrombotic microangiopathy; 3. HIV-associated GN (HIV-associated nephropathy, lupus-like GN); and 4. infectious interstitial nephritis.

Session Objectives

Upon completion of this session, the participant will be able to: 1. review the pathology of the entities discussed including new and unusual infections causing glomerular disease; 2. describe the changing patterns of glomerular injury related to infectious microorganisms; 3. discuss infections causing interstitial nephritis; and 4. describe the differential diagnosis.
