Session Description

FSGS is a leading cause of glomerular disease in both children and adults. FSGS is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. This session updates the pathophysiology of the podocyte, the genetics, the pathology, and the clinical management of this group of diseases.

Session Objectives

Upon completion of this session, the participant will be able to: 1. describe the recent development in genetic basis of FSGS; 2. explain the relevant biology of the podocyte; 3. discuss recent trials underway for treatment of FSGS; 4. describe the contribution of pathology in patient management; and 5. explain the value of the renal biopsy in evaluating IgAN patients.
