Clinical Practice Session

Lupus Nephritis: Back by Popular Demand

November 17, 2016 | 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Location: W375A

Session Description

Lupus nephritis occurs in most systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients, with 10%–20% developing ESRD despite appropriate treatment. This session provides clinicians with an update on the pathology of lupus nephritis. It also reviews recent advances in randomized trials, as well as the rationale for new biologic treatments.

Session Objectives

Upon completion of this session, the participant will be able to: 1. interpret renal biopsy reports in lupus nephritis patients to optimize therapy; 2. critically review randomized trials of lupus nephritis to determine optimal treatment for lupus nephritis patients in your practice; and 3. examine the rationale for biological therapies in resistant lupus nephritis.
