Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study Program: Celebrating 20 Years and Looking Ahead

November 17, 2016 | 04:30 PM - 06:30 PM

Location: W375A

Session Description

The Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study (DOPPS) is a prospective cohort study of hemodialysis practices in national samples of patients in multiple countries. The DOPPS program has expanded its unique scientific approach to the study of patients on peritoneal dialysis (PDOPPS) and those with advanced CKD (CKDopps). In this session, a panel of speakers presents the newest DOPPS findings and new directions. All presentations are aimed at providing a better understanding of how to improve patient care and outcomes with a practical clinical focus.

Session Objectives

Upon completion of this session, the participant will be able to: 1. summarize DOPPS achievements and major findings to date and demonstrate its continued relevance to the renal community; 2. present major findings related to patient experience derived from the DOPPS program and ancillary studies and potential impact on clinical practice; 3. present rationale, study design, and early findings from the Chronic Kidney Disease Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study (CKDopps); and 4. summarize main findings from the first phase of the Peritoneal Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study (PDOPPS), the largest international study of peritoneal dialysis practices to date.
