Clinical Practice Session

Advances in Evidence-Based Care for Pediatric Renal Diseases

November 19, 2016 | 04:30 PM - 06:30 PM

Location: W190B

Session Description

This session provides a concise and prioritized summary of the most recent advances in peer-reviewed knowledge (i.e., within the last 12–24 months) in the causes, diagnoses, treatments, and/or outcomes related to kidney diseases that either could or should drive evidence-based changes in the clinical care provided to children with renal diseases. Each speaker summarizes recent advances in their field (prioritizing pediatric evidence over adult evidence where available), interprets them in the context of current approaches to clinical care, and ends with a summary of suggested evidence-based improvements for the clinical care of children.

Session Objectives

Upon completion of this session, the participant will be able to: 1. define the most recent evidence and consider implementing evidence-based improvements in the care of children with CKD, children with glomerular disease, children requiring acute or chronic dialysis, and children requiring renal transplantation.

Session Acknowledgements

In celebration of its 50th anniversary, ASN thanks former ASN Councilor Robert L. Vernier, MD.
