General FAQs

How do I login to the ASN Website?

The login is located in the right-hand column under "Member Login". You can login using your email address on record with ASN and your password. If you forgot or need to reset your password, then click here.

If you've made several unsuccessful attempts please call 202-640-4660 for further assistance.

What is my membership status?

Login > go to the Member Services tab and click on the 'profile' icon > then click on the 'My Transactions' link. You will be able to view your membership status, as well as edit your personal information.

What's my ASN ID number?

View your ASN ID number on your membership card or find it here. Your ASN ID number is 4 or 6 digits long.

How can I join ASN, or renew my membership?

You can join/renew your membership online. Before proceeding, please click here to determine your membership type.

New member: (active, corresponding, or affiliate memberships)
Active, corresponding, or affiliate memberships can be completed online. Select your membership type and continue following prompts.

New member: (fellows-in-training, retired, or other memberships)
Fellows-in-training, retired, or other memberships must submit this membership form and fax to 202-659-0709, attn: Alyson Freitas.

Please note: ASN membership runs on a calendar year basis and expires December 31st of that year, regardless of your join/renewal date.

Ex: If you join/renew on January 1, 2011, your membership expires December 31, 2011.
If you join/renew on June 1, 2011, your membership still expires December 31, 2011.


Board Review Course & Update

How do I register?

Visit the BRCU page > click on the 'Registration Information' button on the left side menu.

All registration materials will be available at the event.

Early registration deadline is Friday, August 19, 2011.

How can I view BRCU program information?

From the BRCU page, click one of the two buttons in the left side menu:

  • Topics & Lectures (quick-glance)
  • Schedule of Events (detailed information)
How do I obtain housing for BRCU?

Board Review Course & Update is held at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco, CA. Attendees can reserve rooms for reduced rates on ASN's website. If you would like to stay at another hotel in the area you will have to make separate arrangements.

Make reservations at the Palace Hotel.

The deadline for hotel reservations is Thursday, August 4, 2011. Reserve your guest room as soon as possible to receive the special rate. The Palace Hotel may not honor the lower ASN rate after this date; however, rooms may still be available.

Are there any flight discounts available?

Yes. The ASN travel coordinator, Tower Travel Management, has negotiated special air travel discounts for BRCU participants. For assistance in confirming the least expensive travel rate, call Tower Travel toll free at 888-886-7656 or 630-928-7144, or email travel@towertravel.com.

How do I claim CME credit?

Our CME procedures have changed for BRCU 2010. Please check for updates at www.asn-online.org/cme. The deadline to claim CMEs for the activity ends on November 30, 2011.

I could not attend BRCU 2010, but I need to prepare for the Boards. What are my options?

You can purchase the following:

  • BRCU 2010 Online: this online enduring activity includes captured audio recordings set to PowerPoint presentations shown at the live Board Review event. Individuals who purchase this course can obtain CME credit as well as access to the practice exam online.
  • BRCU 2010 audio CDs: the CDs are audio captures of the entire live meeting. Great for listening in the car, or to use at your leisure. The CDs come in 2 formats: MP3 or CD-audio.
  • BRCU 2010 syllabus books: the 7-day syllabus books are of all the PowerPoint presentations shown at the live Board Review event. Individuals who purchase the books will also have a hard copy of the Board Review practice exam.

What is your cancellation policy for BRCU in San Francisco?

Refunds, less a $100 fee, will be granted for requests received in writing prior to Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at 11:59 p.m. EDT. Fax written requests to 202-659-0709. Refunds are processed after the conclusion of the course. After Wednesday, August 18, 2010, all sales are final.


Kidney Week

How do I register?

Register for Kidney Week 2011.

You can also download the registration forms, but there is a processing time. Please fax registration forms to 905-479-9297.

All materials (such as syllabus books, onsite program, etc.) will be available on-site. Please check-in first at Registration, then staff will direct you to the Materials booth.

How can I view Kidney Week program information?

For detailed information of each Early Program please select the program title, listed under "Early Programs".

How do I obtain housing for Kidney Week?

Attendees can reserve rooms for reduced rates at surrounding hotels from ASN's website.

Once you are in the housing reservation site, click on the Convention Center map to see each hotel's approximate distance to the Center.

Please note that not all hotels have shuttle service available to the Convention Center.

I am an international attendee interested in attending Kidney Week 2011.

I could not attend Kidney Week. What are my options?

Register for ASN Highlights 2012, a comprehensive overview of Kidney Week 2011! ASN Highlights will be held in four cities across the US: Dallas, Washington (DC), Chicago, and New York (City). Registration will open in December, and attendees can earn CME credits for participation. Please check the ASN website for up-to-date information.

If you are unable to attend the live ASN Highlights event, you can also purchase the enduring activity ASN Highlights 2012 Online. This enduring activity will be available June 2011, and you can earn CME credit upon completion.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I am no longer able to attend Kidney Week. What is your cancellation policy?

Refunds (less a $100 processing fee) will be granted for requests received prior to 11:59 pm EDT on Friday, September 14, 2011. Fax written requests to 905-479-9297 or email to asn@showcare.com. Refunds are processed after the meeting. After Friday, September 14, 2011, all sales are final.

Our company/organization would like to host an Ancillary Event in conjunction with Kidney Week 2011. Where do I start?
When will this year's abstracts be posted online?

Abstracts are posted on the ASN website approximately 3-4 weeks prior to Renal Week. For more abstracts-related questions please refer to the Abstracts FAQ page.


Journals and Publications

I just joined/renewed my membership and cannot access full JASN/CJASN articles.

Please allow 24-48 hours for the system to update/recognize your login information. If you are still unable to access the articles after 48 hours please contact ASN at 202-640-4660.

I didn't receive/I lost an ASN publication and I'd like it replaced.

Request missing publications.

Please complete all required fields on the electronic form. The form will be sent directly to Sr. Manager for Publishing Services Bob Henkel. If you do not receive your requested issues within 40 days please email Bob at bhenkel@asn-online.org. We replace issues for free, but anything over six months old is subject to availability.

How do I change my mailing address for the journals?

You can update your journal delivery address by updating your profile online.

I am not an ASN member. How can I access the journals?

If you sign up to become a member online you can access JASN and CJASN online within 24 hours.

Non-members can also subscribe to either JASN or CJASN. View non-member subscription rates. Please contact Sr. Manager for Publishing Services Bob Henkel at bhenkel@asn-online.org to subscribe.

Where can I find answers to old NephSAP exams?

This service is available only to ASN members.

View all archived issues of NephSAP.

  • Select a volume.
  • Scroll down and select an issue. Under the authors' name you will see "Answers". Click that link and the answer key for that NephSAP will automatically download.

Note: Only answers to expired NephSAP issues are available for view. NephSAP issues expire exactly 1 year from its publication date.

ex: May 2010 Issue > expires April 30, 2011.
