Kidney Week Program Coordinator

The American Society of Nephrology (ASN) is the leading membership organization advancing kidney health. ASN's annual meeting, Kidney Week, is the world's premier nephrology meeting and the society's signature event, providing the kidney community and beyond with exciting and challenging opportunities to exchange knowledge, learn the latest scientific and medical advances, and listen to engaging and provocative discussions with leading experts in the field.

The Kidney Week Program Coordinator plans, implements, and supports educational activities (in-person, virtual, hybrid, etc.) to close the knowledge and/or performance-in-practice gaps of ASN learners regarding patient-centered health care. This position reports to the Kidney Week Program Manager.


  • Serve as the primary staff contact for Kidney Week Early Programs (courses preceding ASN's annual meeting); responsibilities include: supporting the program chairs, meeting deadlines, communicating regularly with faculty, preparing program materials, serving as the contact for appropriate vendors such as ARS and hands-on equipment, and coordinating with other staff on other activity-related needs including marketing, sponsorship, logistics, and enduring content.
  • Serve as the primary staff contact for Kidney Week abstracts; responsibilities include: preparing the call for abstracts, communicating with and supporting abstract experts, providing customer support for abstract authors and their representatives, and managing abstract content in the Kidney Week database.
  • Serve as the primary staff contact for Kidney Week poster presenters.
  • Maintain standard operating procedures for all assigned activities.
  • Present recommendations and provide solutions to improve processes and experience for all assigned activities.
  • Ensure Joint Accreditation (CME, CNE, CPE) and ABIM MOC compliance; and maintain continuing education activity files for all assigned activities.
  • Provide support for other Kidney Week items as needed such as the Learning Management System.
  • Address external inquiries regarding all assigned activities in a timely manner.
  • Assume other duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to the position and area.
  • Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree.
  • At least three years of project management experience with the ability to set priorities, take initiative, and manage multiple projects on time and with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency using technology to organize and execute projects, including MS Office Suite and learning management systems.
  • Strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, written and oral.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including learners, staff, and vendors.
  • Desired:

  • Experience working with volunteer leaders, particularly health care professionals.
  • Experience with continuing medical education.
  • Nonprofit/association experience, particularly medical/health care.
