Kidney Health Advocacy Day 2017 | March 29, 2017
Advocates from ASN and the American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP) joined forces for the fifth consecutive year to advocate for Congress to increase kidney research funding at the National Institutes of Health and build support for the Living Donor Protection Act (H.R. 1270). This bill would help increase access to transplantation by protecting the rights of living organ donors.
Kidney Health Advocacy Day 2016 | April 21, 2016
Advocates from ASN and the American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP) joined forces to advocate for passage of the Living Donor Protection Act of 2016 in Washington, DC on Thursday, April 21. This bill would help increase access to transplantation by protecting the rights of living organ donors.
Kidney Community Advocacy Day 2015 | September 10, 2015
More than 100 advocates from 16 kidney patient and health professional organizations will gather in Washington, DC, for Kidney Community Advocacy Day to advocate for additional kidney research funding and legislation that promotes organ donations.
113th Congressional Kidney Caucus Kick-Off | March 20, 2013
ASN, ASPN, and seven other kidney patient and health professional organizations hosted a reception on Capitol Hill to launch the activities of the Congressional Kidney Caucus in the 113th Congress. Caucus co-chairs Rep. Tom Marino (R-PA) and Rep. Jim McDermott (D-WA) attended the event and discussed priorities for the caucus in this congress.
Congressional Briefing on Innovation in Kidney Disease | May 1, 2014
ASN and several other organizations co-hosted a congressional briefing on kidney research and innovation in conjunction with Kidney Community Advocacy Day 2014. Congressional Kidney Caucus co-chairs Rep. Tom Marino (R-PA) and Rep. Jim McDermott (D-WA) served as honorary co-hosts, and both attended to address the audience and describe their personal interests in kidney issues.

Kidney Community Advocacy Day 2014 | May 1, 2014
More than 100 advocates from 14 kidney patient and health professional organizations gathered in Washington, DC, for the first-ever Kidney Community Advocacy Day. Advocates met with 133 congressional offices, including 19 members of Congress, to promote increased funding for kidney research and the Comprehensive Immunosuppressive Drug Coverage Act of 2013.
Kidney Health Advocacy Day 2015 | April 23, 2015
Advocates from ASN and the American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP) gathered in Washington, DC to raise awareness on Capitol Hill about kidney disease and discuss two legislative priorities that would improve kidney care and patient health: 21st Century Cures and the Chronic Kidney Disease Improvement in Research and Treatment Act of 2015 (H.R.1130/S.598).

ASN Secretary-Treasurer and Research Advocacy Committee Chair John R. Sedor, MD, FASN, joined other members of the committee and several of the society’s advisory groups to visit the National Institutes of Health(NIH) and Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute for meetings to advance kidney research. Testimony before Prizes to Spur Innovation and Technology Breakthrough Congressional Hearing | April 9, 2014
ASN President Sharon M. Moe, MD, FASN, testified before the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee’s Subcommittee on Research and Technology about the long overdue need for more innovation in kidney care and also voiced support for federal prize competitions as a mechanism to spur scientific and technological breakthroughs to improve kidney care and keep people off of dialysis.
World Kidney Day 2015 | March 12, 2015
In celebration of the World Kidney Day 2015 theme "Kidney Health for All," ASN released a podcast about the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute’s Community Health Workers Health Disparities Initiative, which aims to reduce disparities in underserved populations.
