Official Statements from the ASN Alliance for Kidney Health

ASN Positions address a variety of high-profile issues of importance to ASN members, the patients they serve, and others in the kidney community.

  • ASN Disagrees with SCOTUS Decision in SFFA vs Harvard
The American Society of Nephrology (ASN) disagrees with the US Supreme Court's decision to limit the consideration of an applicant's race in the admissions process for higher education. The court's decisions in "Students for Fair Administration (SFFA) vs President and Fellows of Harvard College" will hamper long-standing efforts to diversify the health care workforce, including physicians, in the United States.

Jackson Women's Health Organization has inserted the government between patients and their physicians. The American Society of Nephrology (ASN) strongly denounces this—or any—interference into the practice of medicine that undermines the integrity of the patient-physician relationship.

  • Joint Statement from ASN, ERA, and ISN Demand Kidney Health for All War Victims
As we celebrate World Kidney Day 2022 and recognize all the incredible advances in our field, we must pause and remember members of the kidney community in war-torn countries. This year's World Kidney Day theme, "Kidney Health for All," underscores harsh inequities that currently exist around the world. While global attention is currently on the war in Ukraine, many other countries—such as Afghanistan, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Iraq, Libya, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen—are also in conflict.
