Critical Care Nephrology: 2019 Update

Course Description

Designed for trainees, practicing nephrologists, advanced practitioners, and other nephrology providers who care for critically ill patients with kidney diseases, this program reviews principles of critical care nephrology and provides updates on the latest developments. The first day reviews topics in critical care medicine that are relevant to nephrology providers: hemodynamic monitoring and support, management of critical illness in patients with ESRD, ethical issues, and management of AKI in specific clinical settings. The second day’s presentations focus on the management of critically ill patients with AKI, including such populations as patients who are pregnant and patients with liver disease or cancer. In addition, the program covers the short- and long-term outcomes of AKI, how to manage patients recovering from AKI, and key considerations in the prescription of RRT.
