Clinical Practice Session

Challenges in Pediatric Kidney Transplantation

November 09, 2019 | 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Session Description

Kidney transplantation has become the standard of care for children with ESKD. While 5-year graft survival has remained strong, long-term graft survival (>10 years) has not improved. This session examines challenges in the care of children after kidney transplantation and suggests possible new management strategies to support patient and graft survival.

Learning Objective(s)

  • Explain the role of infectious and noninfectious complications in children after kidney transplantation
  • Discuss strategies to prevent or attenuate the negative impact some of these challenges impose on graft survival
