Session Description

Few clinically proven therapies exist to treat CKD. Intense investigation in several areas is underway. This session discusses novel approaches to drug discovery, new uses for currently available therapy, and emerging therapeutics coming down the pipeline.

  • Describe novel approaches for the treatment of glomerulopathies
  • Explain the risks and benefits of bariatric surgery in CKD and transplantation
  • Apply an evidence-based approach to the use of mineralocorticoid antagonists in CKD and describe ongoing clinical trials
  • Discuss how stem cell biology and a glomerulus-in-a-chip may enable drug discovery
