Session Description

This session explores the natural history of innovation in kidney care by highlighting success stories and failures of entrepreneurs commercializing a drug, device, or biologic therapies. Experts share current barriers that were overcome and recommend possible future policies that could support the next generation of innovators in the kidney space.

  • Explain how regulatory pathways and the entrepreneurial spirit can lead to the commercialization of innovative therapies and practices
  • Identify key current barriers to innovation in kidney care and the broader medical field and articulate possible solutions to overcoming the barriers

  • Describe best practices that can be adopted from other fields and applied to nephrology to improve care
