Drug and Device Repurposing: Expanding the Therapeutic Armamentarium for Children with CKD

October 24, 2020 | 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Location: On-Demand

Session Description

Advances in genome technology have significantly improved our understanding of the pathogenesis of different childhood kidney diseases. This understanding lets us consider the use of existing therapy and devices approved for other conditions to treat CKD in children and adults. This session discusses potential and existing therapeutic targets in the treatment of children with CKD.

ASN thanks the American Society of Pediatric Nephrology for assistance with this session.

Learning Objective(s)

  • Outline the steps involved in identifying new therapeutic targets and repurposing existing agents in the treatment of nephrotic syndrome and IgA nephropathy
  • Discuss novel therapeutic targets for CKD-MBD
  • Describe new therapeutic targets for membranous nephropathy
