Session Description
This session provides an update on antiretroviral therapy in the prevention and management of HIV infection with a specific review of the safety of tenofovir in HIV. Discussions include an exploration of other contemporary issues such as the estimation of renal function in transgender patients.

Sheldon Morris MD MPH is a Clinical Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases and Global Health, Division of Family Medicine at UC, San Diego. He does research in STI and HIV prevention. Relevant to this presentation he runs studies in transgender individuals for HIV PrEP.

Jayme E. Locke, MD, MPH
Dr. Locke is an abdominal transplant surgeon specializing in innovative strategies for the transplantation of incompatible organs, disparities in access to and outcomes after solid organ transplantation, and transplantation of HIV-infected end-stage patients. Her research interests include complex statistical analysis and modeling of transplant outcomes and behavioral research focused on health disparities. She has authored more than 120 articles in peer-reviewed journals and 20 book chapters, and is an NIH-funded investigator. In addition, Dr. Locke is a Deputy Editor for the American Journal of Transplantation, and is an editorial board member for Annals of Surgery. Dr. Locke is currently the Mark H. Deierhoi MD Endowed Professor in Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and serves as the Director of the Comprehensive Transplant Institute and Chief of the Division of Abdominal Transplant Surgery.
