Translational Session
Beyond Glucose Control: Understanding Metabolic Basis of Diabetic Complications
October 25, 2020 | 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Location: Simulive
Session Description
Recent evidence points to both shared and distinct metabolic signatures for diabetic complications beyond glycemic control. This session discusses unique elements of metabolic determinants of complications from model system studies of translational approaches.
Learning Objective(s)
- Compare the shared and unique elements of diabetic complications
- Describe the metabolic determinants of diabetic peripheral neuropathy and cognition
- Discuss the role of mitochondrial function and lipid metabolism in complications
- Identify metabolites relevant to both cardiovascular and renal progression in diabetes
