Translational Session

Cardiorenal Connections

October 22, 2020 | 02:30 PM - 04:30 PM

Location: Live-Streamed

Session Description

The interplay between the kidneys and the cardiovascular system is complex. The close relationship of renal and cardiac function has given rise to the concept of cardiorenal syndromes. This interplay extends beyond these syndromes and manifests in the form of hypertension and metabolic disease.

Support is provided by an educational grant from 3iveLabs.

Learning Objective(s)

  • Explain the role of metabolic disease as the underlying cause of CVD and CKD
  • Discuss the role of chloride as a key cardiorenal connector
  • Identify diagnostic strategies for cardiorenal syndromes that use biomarkers and imaging modalities
  • Review emerging novel therapies for cardiorenal syndromes
