Kidney Week 2021: Meeting Overview

Transition from Hybrid to Fully Virtual

With increasing uncertainties around variants of the COVID-19 virus, ASN has canceled plans for the in-person component of ASN Kidney Week 2021 in San Diego, CA. We must put health and safety first, and developments surrounding the virus and its variants have raised significant concerns about the appropriateness of bringing a large group of people together from across the country and throughout the world.

ASN firmly believe this decision is in the best interest of our meeting participants, our stakeholders, our partners, and—most important—the millions of people who have entrusted us with their health care. ASN must continue to set the standard among health professionals and medical specialty societies. Also, Kidney Week is such a rich experience because nearly 50% of the participants travel from outside the United States, which would not have been possible this year.

Please refer to the Kidney Week FAQs for details on what this transition means for registration, housing, ancillary events, and more.

All meeting content will be available to virtual participants on the Kidney Week 2021 website/platform until Friday, January 7, 2022.

Kidney Week 2021 is comprised of:

  • 6 Early Programs (fully virtual): On-demand presentations available on Monday, October 25, 2021. Live-stream sessions on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, and Thursday, October 28, 2021. Each program addresses a specific topic in nephrology and requires separate registration.
  • Annual Meeting (fully virtual): Thursday, November 4, 2021, through Sunday, November 7, 2021. Virtual sessions, ePosters, virtual exhibits, networking activities, and more.
