Kidney Week

Clinical Practice Session

Incorporating the Latest Clinical Studies into the Management of Your Patient with ANCA Vasculitis

November 06, 2021 | 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Location: Live-Stream, Virtual Only

Session Description

ANCA vasculitis frequently causes crescentic glomerulonephritis. Clinicians obtain diagnostic, mechanistic, and prognostic information from the underlying disease entity, ANCA type, and kidney biopsy. Steroids, immunosuppressive and complement-directed drugs, and plasma exchange are treatment options to induce and maintain remission. The session recapitulates recent intervention studies in ANCA vasculitis, and experts discuss how they incorporate these findings into clinical practice. Whether vasculitis disease entity, ANCA type and biopsy findings affect treatment is also discussed.

Learning Objective(s)

  • Interpret diagnostic, mechanistic, and prognostic information from a kidney biopsy in patients with ANCA vasculitis
  • Describe the appropriate remission induction protocol for patients with ANCA vasculitis based on recent clinical trials
  • Identify the optimal remission maintenance treatment protocols for patients with ANCA vasculitis based on recent clinical trials
  • List the similarities and differences of ANCA vasculitis disease entities and ANCA types and how these factors may guide treatment decisions
