Kidney Genomics: Discoveries and Implementation

November 04, 2021 | 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Location: Live-Stream, Virtual Only

Session Description

There is currently an acceleration in the progress of discovering new genetic drivers of kidney diseases and discovering how to implement genomic testing clinically in a way that maximizes its utility. This session discusses these parallel and intersecting efforts in genomic discovery and genomic medicine.

Learning Objective(s)

  • Discuss the range of tests that can be used to diagnose the genomic basis of congenital kidney anomalies and the positive impact of this effort
  • Identify the range of genomic variation that contributes to complement-related kidney diseases and how their elucidation is aiding diagnosis and treatment
  • Describe the increasing ability to map the genetic drivers of nephrotic syndrome
  • Explain how nephrologists can operationalize the return of genetic results to patients in the U.S. healthcare system

Learning Pathway(s)

  • Genetic Diseases of the Kidneys
