Clinical Practice Session

Making the Art of Volume Assessment More Precise

November 06, 2021 | 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Location: On-Demand, Virtual Only

Session Description

Volume overload is a pervasive problem in patients receiving kidney replacement therapy in the settings of both AKI and ESKD. This session discusses the evaluation of volume overload and how the achievement of euvolemia may often be elusive and associated with iatrogenic risk.

Learning Objective(s)

  • Describe the role of novel technologies in evaluating volume status in patients with acute and chronic kidney disease
  • Compare the advantages and shortcomings of rapid decongestion in critically ill patients with AKI
  • Discuss strategies that mitigate the risk of intradialytic hypotension in critically ill patients with AKI
  • Discuss strategies that mitigate the risk of intradialytic hypotension in patients with ESKD on dialysis

Learning Pathway(s)

  • Acute Kidney Injury
  • Dialysis

Moderators

  • Josee Bouchard, MD
  • Michael J. Connor, MD
