Basic/Clinical Science Session

New and Novel Pathways Implicated in the Development of Genetic Kidney Disease

November 05, 2021 | 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Location: On-Demand, Virtual Only

Session Description

This session explores newly defined pathways in the development of kidney diseases, starting with an overview of the functional validation of putative disease-causing gene variants and then examining some of these newer pathways, including pseudouridylation, DNA damage repair, and Mendelian disease.

Learning Objective(s)

  • Define the role of pseudouridylation in the development of kidney diseases
  • Explain the role of DNA damage and repair in the development of kidney diseases
  • Outline the functional validation of gene variants identified through genome-wide association studies
  • Specify the complex inheritance pathways in the development of steroid-sensitive nephrotic syndrome

Learning Pathway(s)

  • Genetic Diseases of the Kidneys

  • Thomas A. Forbes, MBBS, PhD
