Clinical Practice Session
Kidney and Fluid: A Love-Hate Relationship
November 05, 2022 | 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Location: W311, Orange County Convention Center‚ West Building
Session Description
Increasing evidence points to the association of fluid overload with an increased risk of adverse outcomes across the spectrum of kidney diseases. Two key challenges involve the objective assessment of volume status and optimal fluid management strategies.
In this session, expert speakers focus on the evaluation and management of fluid status in AKI, ESKD, and cardiorenal syndrome. In addition, speakers give an overview of novel techniques for the assessment of venous congestion, such as bedside Doppler ultrasonography.
Learning Objective(s)
- State the potential kidney and systemic adverse effects of fluid overload
- Describe potential cardiovascular and kidney targets during fluid resuscitation and removal
- Translate knowledge from the literature and clinical cases to improvements in patient care
Learning Pathway(s)
- Hypertension and Cardiorenal Disorders
- Fluid‚ Electrolyte‚ and Acid-Base Disorders
