Translational Session

Biomarkers and Diabetic Kidney Disease

November 04, 2022 | 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Location: W224, Orange County Convention Center, West Building

Session Description

There has been major interest in identifying patients who will progress to advanced diabetic kidney disease (DKD). Aside from albuminuria and GFR, newer markers are in various states of validation. This session critically evaluates the role of current and potential new biomarkers in identifying these rapid progressors.

Learning Objective(s)

  • Discuss the use of albuminuria as a reliable biomarker for DKD
  • Describe the role of certain serum proteins in identifying patients whose disease may progress rapidly
  • List the epigenetic markers of DKD
