Session Description
This session equips clinicians with the knowledge and skills to deliver effective care to patients with hyponatremia during common clinical scenarios, including the patient with severe hyponatremia in the intensive care unit, the ambulatory patient with chronic syndrome of inappropriate antidiuresis (SIAD), the patient with liver cirrhosis, and the patient with heart failure. The speakers present cases that illustrate the management strategies available.

- Prevent neurologic complications related to the management of severe hyponatremia
- Identify patients with chronic hyponatremia due to SIAD who would benefit from fluid restriction alone
- Explain the perioperative management of hyponatremia in patients awaiting liver transplant
- Describe management strategies for patients with heart failure presenting with hyponatremia
