Session Description

Patients with advanced kidney diseases are medically complex and receive care from multiple touchpoints in the health care ecosystem. As such, newer technology offers pathways to delivering care and managing the treatment of kidney diseases, potentially improving clinical outcomes, access to care, and cost of care. This session presents an overview of relevant technology advancements that enable nephrologists to improve kidney disease care.

  • Explain how digital health system tools support shared decision-making and preparation for kidney replacement treatments in patients with CKD
  • Summarize telenephrology clinical outcomes
  • Assess the use of patient-facing technology (e.g., mobile applications) and the use of remote patient monitoring
