Translational Session
Complement as a Target in CKD
November 05, 2023 | 09:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Location: Room 108, Pennsylvania Convention Center
Session Description
This session opens with a current status of knowledge for the complement role in nondiabetic kidney diseases, with a particular focus on IgA nephropathy. Subsequently, growing evidence from basic and functional studies in diabetic kidney disease is presented. This is followed by a presentation of clinical, -omics, and biomarker studies in diabetic kidney disease. The last talk speaks to a translational potential of therapeutic agents targeting complement.
Learning Objective(s)
- Summarize current knowledge on the established complement role in nondiabetic kidney disease
- Describe the complement system's role in IgA nephropathy
- Discuss advances in basic research and translational studies of complement in diabetic kidney disease
- Evaluate the potential for implementing complement inhibitors in CKD of differing etiologies
Learning Pathway(s)
- Diabetic Kidney Disease
- CKD Non-Dialysis
