Translational Session
A Rocky Course: Bones and Stones Through the Life Span
November 04, 2023 | 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Location: Room 119, Pennsylvania Convention Center
Session Description
Nephrolithiasis and bone health are intimately linked, with related risk factors and pathogenesis, as well as potential therapies. Dysregulation of calcium and vitamin D metabolism, genetic risk factors, and lifestyle contributions may combine for a lifetime of accumulated morbidity. This session covers our understanding of bone health and therapeutic strategies in pediatric and adult stone formers and reviews emerging therapies in genetic stone disease.
Learning Objective(s)
- Identify risk factors for pediatric stone disease
- Specify risk factors for bone fracture in adult and pediatric stone formers
- Determine optimal therapies for stone prevention and bone health in stone formers of all ages
- Examine the evidence for emerging treatments in genetic stone disease
Learning Pathway(s)
- Bones‚ Stones‚ and Mineral Metabolism
- Pediatric Nephrology
