Translational Session
Vascular Calcification: Mechanisms, Outcomes, and Emerging Treatment Options
November 02, 2023 | 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Location: Room 119, Pennsylvania Convention Center
Session Description
This session provides a comprehensive review of vascular calcification, including new insights into emerging mechanisms of vascular calcification, the epidemiology and burden of vascular calcification in individuals with CKD, and emerging treatment options. With respect to treatment options, lectures focus on new insights into calcific uremic arteriolopathy and therapeutics for targeting vascular calcification such as calcimimetics, myoinositol hexaphosphate, and magnesium.
Learning Objective(s)
- Describe the pathophysiology of vascular calcification in kidney diseases
- Outline risk factors for vascular calcification in individuals with CKD
- Discuss emerging new treatment options for calcific uremic arteriolopathy
- Summarize the landscape of therapeutics for vascular calcification
Learning Pathway(s)
- Bones‚ Stones‚ and Mineral Metabolism
