Session Description

This session explores the links between nutritional-metabolic parameters and cardiovascular pathology in dialysis patients, describing fundamental mechanisms and the implications for treatment.

Learning Objective(s)

• Describe the changes in lipids and other metabolic parameters in dialysis patients and how they connect to cardiovascular risk
• Explain peritoneal membrane glucose transport and potential therapeutics
• Analyze the interrelationship of sodium, inflammation, and CVD in dialysis patients
• Discuss the effects of exercise on cardiovascular health in dialysis patients
