Onconephrology: Primer for the Nephrologist
November 04, 2023 | 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Location: Room 201, Pennsylvania Convention Center
Session Description
The onconephrologist encounters many forms of kidney diseases resulting from cancer or its therapy. Developing expertise in onconephrology is critical to provide competent and compassionate care to patients with cancer. Examples include understanding drug-induced AKI and pseudo-AKI, as well as the cardiotoxicity and hypertension complicating cancer and its therapy. Kidney transplant patients with cancer represent a difficult challenge that requires provider expertise. Finally, patients with advanced cancer and kidney diseases require compassionate care from onconephrologists with palliative care experience. This session covers these important topics in kidney care.
