H.R. 4583, The Living Donor Protection Act, and H.R. 4582, the Living Donor FMLA Protection Act, have been reintroduced in the House. Along with the Senate companion bill S.1552; the Living Donor Protection Act of 2025 that was introduced earlier this session, the House's two-bill package aims to strengthen protections for living donors.
H.R. 4582 aims to codify Family and Medical leave for living donors, ensuring job protection during donation and recovery periods of organ donation. H.R. 4583 and S.1552 would protect living donors from insurers who would raise premiums based on donor status and would require the Department of Health and Human Services to update educational materials about living donations, promoting future organ donation.
