Tamara Isakova, MD, BRCU Faculty

ASN Biography

Tamara Isakova, MD, MMSc, Director of the Center for Translational Metabolism and Health within the Institute for Public Health and Medicine (IPHAM) and Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension.

Dr. Isakova conducts clinical research in the area of disordered mineral metabolism in chronic kidney disease. In addition to her research, she provides clinical care for patients with chronic kidney disease, bone and mineral metabolism disorders, and kidney stones.

She earned her medical degree from State University of New York Downstate College of Medicine and a Master of Medical Science (MMSc) from Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Isakova completed internal medicine training at the Massachusetts General Hospital and nephrology training at the combined Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham & Women's Hospital nephrology fellowship program. She has received research support from the American Kidney Fund, the American Heart Association, the American Society of Nephrology, the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, and the National Institutes of Health.
