Laura J. Maursetter, DO, FASN, BRCU Education Director

Laura J. Maursetter, DO, FASN, is an Associate Professor of Nephrology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH). Her academic career is focused on both clinical care and nephrology education. Clinically, she provides nephrology care in an academic center and manages outpatients across the spectrum of kidney diseases. Her outpatient work is focused on vulnerable populations including the VA and the department of corrections.
In an educational capacity, Dr. Maursetter serves as the Nephrology Fellowship Training Program Director and has been instrumental in the University of Wisconsin SMPH curriculum transformation, as well as building interest in nephrology careers among residents and students. She has been honored with many teaching awards at the division and departmental levels. Her academic pursuits have focused on developing innovative educational tools including an online, asynchronous quality improvement curriculum, simulation activities, and improving evaluations to provide meaningful feedback for learners.
Dr. Maursetter has been active within ASN since her fellowship when she was the fellow delegate of the Training Program Directors Executive Committee. Since that time, she has served on the ASN Workforce Committee, where she was instrumental in the development of the ASN Kidney TREKS Program, the ASN In-Training Exam Test Material Development Committee, ASN Milestone Development Committee, and as deputy director of the ASN Board Review Course & Update (BRCU).
Currently, she serves as the BRCU Co-Director and on the ASN Continuous Professional Development Committee.
