Raymond R. Townsend, MD, BRCU Faculty
Raymond R. Townsend, MD, is a graduate of LaSalle College and Hanemann University, completed his residency at Allegheny General Hospital, and a nephrology fellowship at Temple University Hospital. He is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Townsend serves on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Clinical Hypertension and Artery Research and Pulse. In 2001, he received the Outstanding Lecturer Award from the Medical Student Class of 2002, and the Russell T. Elkinton Teaching award from Renal Fellows. In 2016 he was named the American Heart Association Physician of the Year. His research includes hypertension, arterial stiffness and pharmacology.
