Andrew S. Narva, MD, FASN

ASN Biography
Dr Narva was the director of the National Kidney Disease Education Program at the National Institutes of Health from 2006 through 2019. Prior to joining the NKDEP Dr. Narva was a physician in the Indian Health Service where he served as chief clinical consultant for nephrology and director of the IHS Kidney Disease Program. He has served as a member of the Medical Review Board of ESRD Network 15 and as chair of the Minority Outreach Committee of the National Kidney Foundation. He served on the NKF KDOQI Work Group on Diabetes in Chronic Diabetes, as a member of the JNC 8 Expert Panel and as a member of Working Group on CKD, International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine. Dr. Narva served as a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine Nephrology Subspecialty Board from 2014 to 2019 and as a member of the National Quality Forum Renal Workgroup from 2007 through 2023. Dr. Narva is currently a student in a doctoral program at the University of the District of Columbia and continues to provide care as a volunteer for kidney patients at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
